What do you really pay for when you are buying into any money making "strategy." You are paying for a lot of information most of the time. Information that you could find on your own but it would take time. Seeing as how most of the necessary information for online marketing success is buried or compartmentalized, it forces you to spend hours compiling it yourself. So you pay for time saved. That is fine by me.

You also pay for some one's opinion and that is the part that I have the most problems with. Like many things in life, internet marketing is not a science. Some things work for some people at a certain time, others for other people. Take my experience with Profit Lance. I have yet to make a dime off of any of the 10 free marketing websites that the system gave to me with promises of big returns. However, I did benefit from all of the compiled info on the Profit Lance site. All of the money that I have made so far I could have made on my own for FREE if I had only had the knowledge.

And I have not "struck it rich" by any means, but I have been able to modestly supplement my income at a growing rate every month. I have done it all primarily through affiliate niche marketing, something that anyone half way interested in the subject should have heard about already.

What is affiliate niche marketing? There is nothing magical about it. It is merely supply and demand with the main identifier being that the internet provides you with the tools to find those rare goods that have a significant demand but no supply. The affiliate marketer steps in to provide those rare goods. That is as simple as it gets, folks. So before you try a "pay to make money" scam, research the free information on my site and many others to see if you can carve your own piece of this massive online market pie.

5 more free things a great blog can't do without.

You may already have a good blog with some well written content. Here are 5 must have tools to make your free blog site more functional, especially for marketing purposes.

1. We have already discussed Bravenet's email subscription service. Feedblitz is another great free subscription tool that you can utilize. I am actually thinking about switching my service to them. They allow you control over the details of the email messages updating your readers. Something like this will serve you very well. If you are like me, you visit about a million different web pages a day and spent too much time searching through the "history" tab trying to find that really informative site. Subscription allows readers to stay updated. As long as the content is useful, funny, informative, etc. they will keep coming back for more.

2. Is also about keeping readers updated. An RSS Feed gets the word out when you have new posts. Free tools like feedburner gives you lots of useful, animated options.

3. Sitemeter or Statcounter both give lots of traffic statistics about the quality and quantity of visiters to your site.

4. Services like pingomatic lets you update many blogging services with one click.

5. Google Adsense and search will help you make some extra money off your blogs.

There are about one trillion online marketing "plans" out there and if you have tried any already, you were probably disappointed.

Which ones are real?

Which ones are a complete waste of time?

I havent fallen for all of the scams out there (just most of them) but I have gained some useful knowledge along the way. If you are in it to "get rich quick" then you are mistaken. Online money making, especially marketing, requires a lot of time in the beginning and a lot of frustration. I worked for two months before I really saw any money.

The best advice that I recieved (from Profit Lance) was to educate myself and to build up many small money making sources, constant tiny streams of income.

I am not trying to take the wind out of your sails. I am sure that some people do "make it big" right from the start. For me it was not that easy. I definitely do not consider myself rich, but I have created a small steady source of income for myself to build upon.

With tons of ebooks and resources, Profit Lance was great for this.

Free tools to make your blog look professional

A quick search on the web will produce many free sites offering blog hosting. As you can see, I choose to use Google's Blogger. You could also choose from a multitude of others like Blogono.com, NowBlogging.net, OutBlogger.com, and so on. Finding a free host for your blog is not a problem. Finding skins and templates that give the blog a professional look is a bit more difficult.

Do a quick search for free templates and see what you get. A LOT of stuff. Some are very good. Some are alright. Some are a headache to deal with. I am not a computer programer. I have learned as much (probably more) about HTML as I want to. Hands down for ease of use (a simple cut and paste job) I would recommend final sense templates. They provided the template on this page along with my other blog templates Online Gamers Unite! Taxation Without Representation, and Live Sounds. They all look incredible and they are all FREE! They are very easy to operate with blogger's edit layout function (no more HTML).
